AFI Top 100 Project

As part of my list for 2012, I am watching (or in many cases, re-watching) AFI's Top 100 Films.  You can check out my progress below.  In addition to crossing off what I've watched, I'll give a little synopsis of my thoughts and an overall rating.  And don't worry, this isn't where I bore you with my film school education opinion.  You won't read anything about semiotics or the male gaze here.  This is purely based on entertainment and whether a film held my interest.  Cheers to *that*!  Oh, and if you don't know a movie, you can click on the links below to take you to AFI's descriptions.

Watched this one on 2/5/12.  I loved everything about it except for when the Four Cohans showed up in blackface.  Not cool.  Not cool at all.  Still, it is an interesting movie and I never knew about George M. Cohan, so it was educational, too!  : )  James Cagney was amazing and I loved the music, having grown up with my mother singing me many of those songs.

TOY STORY
Watched this one on 2/11/12.  I can't believe it's been so long since I first encountered Woody and Buzz.  I also can't believe that I never knew Joss Whedon was one of the writers!  Madness!  The good news is the magic holds up.  The bad news is the entire time you watch Andy pal around with Buzz and Woody, you realize that he's going to grow up and get rid of them (Toy Story 3).  Sniff, sniff.  The alien scene is still my favorite ("The claw!  The claw commands us!  He has been chosen!") .
